Im lookin at either a Opteron 175 S939 or an athlon X2 4400+
I know the opteron is a server chip as well as a great overclocker. They are both dual core, price difference is usually in favor of the optie, every other spec is great, but I'm sceptacle on how these will game. I know the X2 will game but how does the Optie perform?> ANy one with info would great be appreciated. Thanks fellas.
This is of coarse my first AMD build and would like to have it be right the first time, as Im talkin bout throwin down $480-500

(oh well, i guess the X2 would be better, but I'm not 100% on that.) _________________ P4 3.2ghz

the only difference that I know of is that the optie OCs better than what the X2 does. Other than that they will perform the same in games and benchmarks.
go with the optie and an Asus A8N32-SLI and you will have great start of a system! _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Yes I am now forced to go dark side. I was gonna ditch the mobo I just laid my eyes on (a8n32-sli) for the Intel version of the board, but Now I am going to have to go AMD since I already recieved the mobo and paid for it. And well. I dunno
Im sure I can get a good $50 mark up on it since its so hard to find it. But I still dunno, I would have to go through the hassle of selling it. and waiting for the new one. I have heard very good reports on both the Optie and the X2's so since they will run the same, The cheaper I can find which ever I will get. Both run around $500 so The best deal I can find will determine My choice now. Although I am sure now I will go for the Optie since im told it was made using better silicon, and uses the memory a whole lot more efficiently. _________________ Remember When Sex was safer than racing???

If you want SLI, you're better off with AMD anyway. The Intel version is a bit iffy yet. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

yes I have heard that, but I figured since I already have a 64bit Intel 3ghz cpu then it wouldnt be so bad to try it out. But I have heard so many more positives about the AMD 64 bit cpus that it swayed me instantly.
I am just lookin out for a 175optie, or a 4400+ X2.
Or rather any AMD64FX to get me by right now actually. _________________ Remember When Sex was safer than racing???
