hey guys, i have OCZ pc5000 DDR625 EL 1 gb dual channel dfi nf4 special edition.. now i can get it to run well and pass memtest86+ at:

DDR400 FSB= 200 mhz no divider, CPU multi = 9, DRAM Voltage =2.8v @ 2-2-2-5, as promised by OCZ, how ever they also promised it would run at DDR625 pc 5000 at 3-4-4-10 at 3.0V tried, doesnt even pass 3% of memtest, ive tried the following all together and seperate, i spent 4 hours trying and i searched the web for help on this ram, nothing cause its end of life to OCZ.. so heres what ive tried

i can get it to hit FSB = 290 mhz CPU multi = 6 @ 3-4-4-10 2.8V CPU v core = 1.325 LDT Voltage = 1.2v Chipset V = 1.5v
i hit problems as soon as i go higher than 290, heres my question, how do i fix this? lol, is it being affected by the processor maybe the multi is too low? cause i want to test just the memory with proc at stock speeds, i tried adjusting all the voltages individually tooo, LDT, Chipset , CPU, if timings are any looser than 3-4-4-10 the system wont even post. any ideas?

thanks

Give this a good read, and follow the overclocking routine outlined in the approrpiate section. You'll then be able to know with confidence what the upper limits of the RAM and CPU are. Good info here:

ok read threw, the main 3 things he said to try i alrdy did and got no where, so im gonna try the LDT/FSB ratio, and then ill mess around with the memory timingin specifics. thanks, ill let you know,

So, just out of curiosity, what was the max MHz of your RAM by the method outlined?

DDR625 @ 3.0v vdimm

you are trying to get close to this and you have haven't raised the vdimm yet. That right there will cause alot of problems.

Actually, he said he did, and it wouldn't get 3% through Memtest at those settings.

If I had to guess, and you did indeed run it at OCZ's settings for DDR625, I would RMA the stuff. It's possible that the sticks you have just won't run that fast..........getting speeds like that on regular DDR requires the best quality chips available, and those are hard to come by.

when you go over 290 what vdimm are you using? And if you are going to 3.0+ volts are you using any active cooling?

ok kog i answer you first, ive gone as high up as 3.1V on the memory, it has copper heat sinks on it, i had a industrial fan blowing thru my case to keep em cool and i swear to you they never went above 48 degrees celsius, i have one temp probe on each stick of ram, under the heatsink.
and i know have even more dissapointing news, the ONLY configuration that will pass memtest86+ is DDR400 2.8V @ 2-2-2-5 granted thats pretty sweet, but hell i paid for DDR625, if you'll also be so kind as to note that this stuff was on the market for an entire 2 weeks before they deamed it "end of life" the reason was: the high quality chips were so hard to come by and they couldnt make enouugh profit off the product, if i had to guess id agree with fuss on this one, but it is very strange that even at 3.0V running FSB 250, no divider = DDR500 with timings at 3-4-4-10, and all the other settings (i realised after reading the article you told me to on DFI street) set for max stability, even the LDT bus set to a multiplier of 4 to achieve perfect 2000MT/s for stbaility, NOTHING, failed memtest86+ after 4% completion. im sick of it, i hate this crap, first the crappy PSU from thermaltake now this, i dono if i cant get it figured out soon enough im either gonna say F*CK it and leave it at DDr400 with tight timings, or RMA the stuff, im definitley gonna call OCZ head office in canada monday morning tho, im pissed,

other than that, any other ideas?

pssh , as if FnF, now listen here, ive found some ways of making it work but man did it require a lot of tweaking, very indepth ram tweaking, anyway i just wanted to let you all know very soon i will be posting my excell spreadsheet with all my different settings and benchmark results and game tests in order to show absolutley which is best.

so far i can conclude that when it comes to ram around DDR500 with tight timings is very good, but the best performance is so far comming from an OC CPU and DDR 400 at 2-2-2-5, i am testing on the following benches:

NVtune + cool bits: system, memory, hard disk, graphics tests
3dmark 01
3d mark 03
3d mark 05
aquamark 3
Counter Strike: Source video stress test

i am also looking in to find a way to test more games, maybe far cry, or X2, i originally had planned on testing need for speed most wanted but the 7800 GT stock is enough actually to play 1600 x 1200 with full AA full AF and MAx details in sound and video so i cant test it anymore..lol these cards are sick, i havent even started testing the video yet, ill keep you all updated.
