I'm gearing up to get a new computer pretty soon (as anyone who reads the motherboards/memory forums knows), and I'm looking at something with the following specs:

$98 - Aspire X-Cruiser (Black)
$120 - MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum
$213 - Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2 (San Diego) <-Hopefully to be overclocked to 2.8 or so
$151 - OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 (may change - see my post in the memory forums)
$62 - Zalman CNPS9500 heatsink
$299 - XFX GeForce 7800GT (maybe i'll get the eVGA)
($00)- Maxtor 200GB (already have it - my loot from black friday)

I'm also up in the air on the matter of PSU, but at a minimum I think I'm going to go with the Thermaltake 430w that's $30AR (if I bother ordering that piece of the rig by tomorrow when the rebate expires...).

I'm planning on overclocking the processor to just over 2.8 (that's my goal, at least... hopefully attainable with the zalman cooling it). Now for the questions (I swear, i searched quite a number of OCing threads and couldn't find anyone giving someone else a definitive answer... no really, i did! ):

1. Is the multiplier locked at 11 on this processor? And if so, will I be able to get the damn thing up to 255 (x11 = 2805) without it frying/melting/fleeing?
2. How much Vcore should I pump into this thing, maximum (without regard to temperature)?
3. If the multiplier isn't locked, any suggestions as to a good configuration before I actually order the thing and play around a bit?

Thanks.

as told by many here, I would recommend a different power supply especially with that video card. AT THE LEAST 500w, with dual 12v rails at least 18a each.

racing is correct on the psu issue. Maybe an Enermax Liberty model.

the cpu will be unlocked downwards. Meaning that if the stock multiplier is 11 you will have 11, 10, 9 and ect.
