Last week windows xp was missing some files in the system32 folder and but I managed to get them back in there using the recovery console, though they werent in the windows/repair folder. now the system boots but after a split second of displaying the windows xp logo it just reboots. there is a blue screen but i cannot read what it said on there.
i tried booting xp using various methods and i can recover some of my files but others are encrypted with efs and i cannot view them. If i put my hd in some other computer can i use some program to decrypt these files knowing i have the login password for the user?
Can i somehow try and repair windows without losing my files using UBCD?
I have also tried using the repair windows thing with the dell cds i got with my computer but when i see the partition of my drive it doesnt let me choose "repair" which every website tells you to do. any ideas there?
Thank you for any help you could provide.
