Hey!
How's it going?

My friend told me that if I were to use a stick of PC2100 RAM memory and a stick of PC2700 RAM memory, my motherboard would not function correctly. I argued that it would work, but would process at the slower of the two (in this case, at PC2100 speed). He says that even if that is so, there are so risks in doing this. I didn't think so. Who is correct?

Please give me more/any information you have regarding this. Thanks a lot in advance! =)

my thoughts on this have always been just as you are thinking...it will function, just at the slower speed....but keep in mind that your MOBO should be rated to support the faster of the two modules.
Errors are likely if you do not stay withing your board's limits.
Most "good" RAM should be backwards compat. .....that is one of the functions of JEDEC.

As a rule, you do not really want to mix/match.....but if the need is asbolute,t hen all you can do is try.

Although your board will support pc2700, it will default to the slowest of the two see that pc2700 is reverse compatible back to pc2100.

It will work, but you will find that you may encounter some glitches and freezing from time to time. PC2700 memory is cheaper than pc2100 at the moment, so you should use the fastest available.
