How do you mean "not work", and what games are we talking about? Need a little more to go on................... _________________ Big enough to scare you |

It is a cable connection. Real fast. My actual download speeds are between 200-300kbps a second from a good server.
Well at first I tried playing command and conquer generals zero hour (online)...couldnt get that to work....and I seen a lot of other people that had that problem with a router and that game....and even though I followed all the instructions like turning the firewall off....opening ports etc.....it still wouldnt work. So I figured it was a lost cause.
Now I just got the game F.E.A.R. Had a little more luck with that. I can actually get the server lists and game rooms to come up.....but I will get disconnected every time I try to join a game. Havent tried opening ports/firewalls because I figured it was just the same problem I had with generals.
I am also waiting to play far cry and half-life 2 as well. I really wish I could get this online problem fixed...as the games are only so fun for so long without multiplayer
It is a gigafast EE-400-r cable modem router. We have one older computer downstairs and the good one in my room running off of it.
thanks |

Well, aside from checking the game FAQ's to see which ports to have open, you'll also want to call your ISP. Since it's a couple of different games, I would suspect your ISP might have the common gaming ports blocked. I had that problem with Charter, when I first got them. I had to call and b!tch about it. Might not be the case with you, but it is a pretty common problem.
Now, for the hardware settings. Go here for the Gamespy settings......

Read it thoroughly, it should solve your problem. Personally, I think GameSpy sucks, but what choice do you have.........
Alot of that will help with F.E.A.R. too. Turning your firewall off won't help the problem (believe it or not), it still leaves the ports closed. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
