Looks like my "intermittant hang" problem was due to the controller going out.

Currently, my PC won't boot with a 2nd HD mounted as Slave on the primary IDE channel. I've tried 2 HDs in that position and 3 IDE cables. Now during boot I get a message, "HD 0 not found + HD 1 not found"... also, BIOS shows "Unknown Device" for both HDs.

However, I can still boot and run with only one HD mounted as the Master on primary IDE channel.

Do any of you know of some diagnostic software (hopefully free) which can verify the controller is bad before I consider a new systemboard?

Or, if you think I might check something else, I'm all ears.

TIA

Hose
