Hi everyone! Please bear with me..I'm still a newbie in pc upgrade.
I've bought a Kingston Ram PC3200 and am trying to install..however, my motherboard is a GA-8S648FX and it says 2.5v ram only. The new ram that I bought is 2.6V...
When I try to load my pc...nothing happens...
could it be the voltage of my pc? can I up the voltage? will that work?
Any help is appreciated..thanks! |

Welcome to TN
1st, for future refference, you should create your own thread that way we keep the existing threads speciffic to the problem the origional poster posted...
Anyways that aside your mobo obviously does not support the ram usually voltage is not the only difference so I doubt there would be a mod to fix it (though I may be wrong) Your best bet is to get a new mobo to support the ram.
Good luck
Mods? Maybe this should be moved to its own thread. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

The voltage *shouldn't* be a problem..............but...........
If this is add-on RAM to existing, what's the model/speed of your existing RAM? That board will go all goofy if you try to install two different speeds of RAM at the same time. You have to use the same speed in all slots.
How many sticks are you adding, for how much total?
If it's a new pair, have you tried just booting with one stick at a time? Could be that one is bad. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
