I've recently purchased this mobo for a friend, and when i finished hooking everything up, all the system does is beep 8 times continueously..any idea wat i did wrong? The specs are as follows.

MSI KT4V 6712 Mobo
256DDR 333Mhz
Geforce 2 mx400 64MB w/o tvout
AMD Athlon XP2000+
WD 40GB HD


if you need more information let me know..but that's everything...i didnt do nething with it yet...i can't..it wont even boot to the startup screen to enter bios..it just starts beeping.

i would check out MSI's website on help on what the beep codes mean in your situation.

I personally don't know what they mean and can't give you an informed advice.

i just had to check the beep codes on an older dell when it started acting up. fairly easy to find on their site. i'd imagine that if they aren't on MSI's site, there should be a technical support number you can call to find out. not all beep codes are the same across manufacturers.

yeh, i figured that..but their manual didnt tell me anything..didn't even spare one page to tell you wat different beeps mean...and their site is not fully developed yet, some links are dead and the list goes on...
