|
|
Finally sold some of my drum stuff, so I have $100 to spend on RAM (finally). I need 1gb of PC3200.........yeah, I know, I already have one stick, but I suspect it's not working quite right, so I might as well get a new matched dual channel set.
I'm looking at three different brands/models:
Corsair Value Select dual channel kit, 2.5v CAS 3, $90
Geil Value 1gb dual channel kit, 2.55-2.95v, 2.5-8-4-4 $91
OCZ Premiere Value dual channel kit, 2.6v, 3-4-4-8, $92
I've heard good about Mushkin, and as much as I'd like to get the OCZ Performance stuff, it's just a bit out of my price range...........so, which one should I get? I'm leaning toward the Geil.
Now, once my snare drums sell, I'll replace my vid card. Both need replacing, but the RAM really needs it first. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

This is just me but... I have been using Ram made from a company called PDP systems. Their performace and mid-range is about the same price as the other big name's value. They are extremely stable and have heat spreaders. newegg and zipzoomfly have them.
But out of those three the OCZ. _________________ P4 3.2ghz

Same here I've been using PDP for a year now, it's the most stable memory I've ever owned. |

out of the three listed I would go with the Geil. That same stuff has been in Bunni's computer for I dont know how long now and it runs 24/7 very stable. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Yeah, I like the wider range of voltages, along with the slightly tighter timing. Gives alot of room to loosen things up, if need be...........but that'll only be if somebody else here buys that V2 stuff before I do.
and I'll cry bitterly if somebody does........after I rip your arms off and feed them to you. *grin* _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Hmm............well, that's definitely an option.........but I'm sorta leaning toward the Geil. Heard alot of good about it, for the price range. True, the heatspreaders LOOK cool.......but I could pull them off of my old RAM too..........I'm just looking at that nice, wide voltage range........... _________________ Big enough to scare you |
