I have the Nvidia 6600 (AGP version) - 256 MB graphics card.
I fiddled around with the bios and was able to add the option for viewing the core temperature in the Nvidia properties window.
My questions are the following:

I noticed that my card's temperature is 65 degrees Celsius when it's idle and it reaches 80 degrees Celsius when I play Earth 2160 !! Isn't that too high ?

Can I overclock the card while using the stock fan ?

What are the maximum safe temperatures for this card ?

What type of cooling (brand name etc...) do you recommend ?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... good question.
I'm very new to all this stuff and frankly I have no idea what the case temperature is.
How can I check it ?

Go into your motherboard bios and look for system temperature in the PC health section.

Ok, I'll do that tonight and I'll let you know what I find,
In the mean time I found an interesting little program called SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
Dunno if it can also help and I don't know if I'm allowed to post links in this forum (moderators feel free to delete the link if required).

You best be gaining more knowledge before you start tinkering with programs so freely.

I guess you're right about that.
One last question though... my Nvidia properties window says "Nvidia 6600 GO".
Any idea what the GO stands for ? I know there the plain 6600 and the 6600 GT... but the GO, never heard of it.

You sure you were playing with the videocard's BIOS or just the drivers?

Well, I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia's website and installed them.

As for the bios I did what this page says and it worked fine for me: http://www.ocia.net/articles/tempmonitoring/page1.shtml
