As I said in the other thread I would be getting back to everyone with more info. Well the time has come to be able to share. The bidding has ended and I shall soon be receiving 3 matched pairs of 1.6 Low Voltage Xeons. Which when teamed with an Asus PC-DL deluxe and a few volt mods are capable of 3.3 ghz. Each "server" should be good for about 280-320 cands a day.
Now I just need to get the motherboards, another set of ram, cases and power supplies. For the psu's I have already talked to PC Power and Cooling about getting some Silencer 470's with the EPS 8-pin plug. They say this is able to be done. Also another thing that needs to be acquired are heatsinks for these bad boys.
This is the case I want to use.
The Power supply
and of course the CPUs
I can't wait to get these put together! Because with these and my other comps we should be good for about 1600-1800 a day. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

I am going to be building three dual Xeon rigs just for crunching D2OL.
For some time I had been thinking about building a dually system either Xeon or Opteron. But the prices have always been higher than I was willing to pay. Then the other day I stumbled across a thread over at xtremesystems about building duallies with the 1.6 ghz LV Xeons and overclocking them. So I checked into it and found this is something that I can do. My intention was to build ONE of these. Well lets just say we got a little overzealous with the bidding on E-bay and now we are the proud owners of THREE pair of these little beauties.
I haven't fully decided on getting those rackmounts but it should would make for a nice neat tech-room. Especially if I decide to build more of these. We may end up using some Antec Sonota cases and calling it good. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

I have some empty space next to my desk, if you need it.
Have fun.......I envy you. Hell, I'd MARRY you for a pair of matched Xeons and a mobo.
Don't worry........we can do it in Vegas, and have it annulled within 24 hours. You wouldn't even have to see me naked. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Sally if I do go in that direction I may be hitting you up for one of those switches. It might be cool to put that dual p3 in a rackmount too!
FnF awww that takes all the fun out of it eewww. I almost had an extra P4 willie machine. But it is being adopted by one of Bunni's uncles that needs it for some music mixing project. Otherwise I was thinking of sending it your way.
We will have to start posting pics of the machines that we use for crunching! _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
