Whoohoo!!!!
Couldn't have been easier. Everything installed, XP install went like a breeze, getting all my necessary software installed, then I'll run a benchie or two.
Huge applause for Chaintech again. I sent the broken mobo out on Aug 27th, they had it by the 29th. New board went in for testing on the 30th, and was shipped out to me on Sept 2nd, FedEx. Now that's a fast RMA turnaround.
They not only sent me the new board, but everything that went with it, including updated software, and even some cables Hammy forgot to put in. No mention of the missing HSF bracket, or the fact the CBox cables were sleeved in green, rather than the black they were originally in, nor did they say anything about the IDE cables I didn't send back...............it all came factory fresh.
To top it off, there was a hand-scribbled note from the tech guy (Steve?), which explained that the problem with the old board was a faulty voltage regulation circuit from the 12v input to the CPU socket.........the CPU was getting proper voltage, but the step-down circuit had overheated and melted the socket closed. At least I think that's what it says..................
I'm verrrrrrry impressed with Chaintech. That's hands down the best service I've ever gotten from a computer parts maker.
Now..........off to run some benchies.......... _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Ok, I just ran into a major, backbreaking problem here.
I mean, bad.
The mobo came with a remote control, sortof like the MCE remote.
I don't have any AAA batteries.
My life is over.

that was really good service... I wish i had gotten a chaintech than my original Soyo Dragon 2 v1.0. I had nothing but problems with Soyo. They wouldn't respond to ANY emails (around 20) and they never sent me the $100 in rebates I sent in. The Soyo board wouldn't run my radeon, OR run Windows SP2. I was like WTF when trying to load windows. Then the hdd was corrupted because of the mobo. Sent that out, got it back in about 2 weeks and then I ordered my lanparty. _________________ P4 3.2ghz

| speaking of customer service, i order stuff from newegg all the time... for the first time i recieved something broken. The case i ordered had been mashed.... all plastic tabs on the front broken, not even close to workable condition. I was given two options. Either wait for 10 days while the rma cleared, send it back, and once they got the bad one they would send a new one. Or i could, buy a new one, and return the broken one for a refund... so currently im out the money and a little upset that i have to wait for this damn case all over again... I mean i understand its not really neweggs fault... its UPS... but it still irks me. |

Actually, they sortof have to. Damage in shipping is the resposibility of the retailer, who then gets reinbursed from UPS. It's actually in their best interest to get the damaged product back ASAP, so they can file the claim and get the cash.
I'm not sure why most companies still use UPS........the service is awful, it's sometimes twice as much as FedEx, or even the good ol' USPS, and they're God-awful slow........takes twice as long for ground shipments as FedEx. Cost me $7.50 to ship Priority back to Chaintech, they had it in two days. The same service from UPS was $18. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

i know they HAVE to honor it...but thats not the point.....just pointing out the fact that that bond exists btw retailers and shippers everywhere......and how much it would suck if insurance like that didnt exist, and retailers didnt care WHAT happened after shipment.....
....the world would be a coooold daaaaark place....=] _________________
