Ok guys. I have two 350w SVC infinity Kappa subs. These things are kick ass subs....were a friend of mine's and they knocked well.
Right now they are sitting in a band pass, which i will be eliminationg as soon as i can afford the custom enclosures for the storage compartments of my porsche.
For NOW though, they are being powered by a cheapo Logic 800w x4....400w RMS.....bridged...stereo....this amp is garbage.
Im looking for a new solid amp....i used to have a reference 500sx, and that thing was sweet....but the audiobahn i was playing with blew it up.....damn
Im looking for a solid amp....clean power all the way through....350 watts per channel....i love running my subs in stereo, but if anyone has a better suggestion....fire away.
smaller the better, since ill be hiding it soon enough....and theres REALLY isnt much room to play with back there..... _________________

Nice subs first of all. Once you get a new box they'll really sound nice for sure!!
Your Logic amp...it's 800WX4..max? and is 400W rms when bridged? anyways, basically you need two amps if you want to get the quality. any single 4 channel amp will be good enough to power your speakers/tweeters definantly.
Sub amps are a different story, you DEFINANTLY DO NOT want to run a sub in stereo mode, and im not saying because it will blow your sub up or anything, but i say it from a quality point of view that any mono amp input with a nice LPF will out-pound a stereo setup. For a sub amp i recommend buying a class D amp, you do pay a little bit more, but it actually pulls less power from the car and can produce far more power than any a/b class.
Head-units are also very important for sound quality especially if they have HPF's and LPF's built in. So all in all, i would say..stay with the logic amp to power your speakers using the high input on the amp. Then go and find pretty much any class d amp, i use a p-1000 xplod 1600w class d amp now and i cant believe how much of a difference it makes! and you can find those for only around 200$ now. Also, the p-1000 is a small pentagon that can fit pretty much anywhere. _________________ P4 Northwood 2.6 HT @ 2.8 Intel 865PE

| I can't believe you're recommending a Sony xplod over heating quality lacking amp to this guy!! Stay away from Xplod. Period. I have purchased some great amps from America for very little money. You really can get alot better than that over there for similar prices.... But you are right on one thing though, definitely go for Class D amp especially with a subsonic filter if your subs are in a ported enclosure. As well as there general 80% efficiency and low current draw. |

Ok.....the skinny.....the Logic is powering my subs right now.....bad news
I like running two channels to my subs.....left channel to left sub, right to right.....
each SUB is mono...but with two...its a stereo setup....i like the surround quality i get.....
I will NOT buy sony....i hate them.....but thank you for the advice....i agree with D class amps but id like something two channel....so i can run it as i said above....if im missing something...please inform.
Basically..im looking for suggestions from a very educated car stereo guru...lol...im not stranger to systems...ut im looking for the best bang for my buck in high class long lasting amps.....
Zapco, phoenix gold, sound stream.....are there any other good amps? _________________

2 channel input into a 2 channel amp gives you 2 channels of output- left and right. Each channel does not put out a stereo signal, rather, together they form a stereo signal.
For arguments sake, I strongly agree with wb in going with a mono class D amp. You will get more power for your dollar, and typically you also get more subwoofer friendly amp (i.e. 3rd-4th order lowpass filter, subsonic filter, high current for driving low impedances, remote level controls, etc).
I also strongly disagree with running subwoofers in stereo in a vehicle. I'd wager that you would not be able to tell the difference between stereo and mono sound from a pair of subwoofers. The sound waves are simply too long in such a small environment. A 50Hz tone has a wavelength of roughly 22 feet. There isn't nearly enough space inside a car to differentiate whether such sounds are coming from the left or the right (unless you've got a custom pair of subwoofer headphones ).
Anyway, there are lots of great amps out there- what's your budget? |

you know...thats a really good point.....the subs are mounted in extreme corners of the vehicle...but youre right.....
Ok....now....questions sandness.....
With an 800w 4 channel amp, i can bridge to two channels....can i bridge lower with a jumper?...running both my subs on mono 400w power?
From Headunit to Sub, what would be a better setup with what i have right now?
Pioneer 9200-DEH Head Unit
Low pass set 80Hz
In phase
Also...i dont wanna spend more than like $300..but i will if its worth it. _________________

| Thats a very healthy budget to work with especially as you live in the states. I would recommend you look at an amp like mine as described in the other thread which came to less than $300 and that included shipping to me in the UK.... |
