welcome Jeeps4life06! (I too am a Jeep owner!)

WOW this is going to be interesting to get XP to run OK on this system. First thing would be look into getting more memory if possible. To overclock this thing you would need to find a clockgen for the motherboard and chipset. And honestly I dont even know where to look for one for such an old computer.
Do have to have XP on that system? IMHO you are going to have troubles getting it to be a decent running system with the specs that is has when running XP. If you are needing to use XP then I would look into stripping XP of the things that you dont need. Make it run the barest of installs. That is going to take some working on to get it right. But it is possible.

Running XP on that ol' IBM is not really possible. If I recall, it has a max RAM capacity of 64mb. I mean, it will probably load alright, but it'll run so slow it'll actually be a downgrade.

I'd suggest trying to find more RAM, and max it out.......but rather than trying to load Windows, that laptop would be a prime canditate for a nice, clean Linux install. Unless you want to play games on it, that is.......if it's strictly for work or school, and occasional net surfing and email, a Linux distro like Mandrake would run faster than Windows95. If you pick a newb-friendly distro, you won't have a huge learning curve.

If that's not really an option, then there's not a whole lot you can do.

I wouldn't really suggest OC'ing an old proc like that......it's already really lived past its prime, OCing might send it right to its grave.

Yeah, there were a couple of different models. The one that had 64mb total had 2mb video RAM, the one with 96mb total had 4mb video RAM. Otherwise, they were identical.

I'll suggest Linux again. Most dstros are free, if you have the time to download them, and don't mind the learning curve.

Otherwise, no............you're rather stuck. There's a level at which a PC can be upgraded to decent performance standards............and, unfortunately, you're far enough below that level to actually create a fossil.

Yup, Mandrake isn't the most powerful, but it is the easiest. For a noob, I'd suggest buying a box, though, for the documentation.

http://www.click-now.net/download/Mandrake_Linux.htm

You can download Mandrake 10.1 at that link.
