It started with heat and escalated from there. I'll not bore you with the details. Now after new video card and new DDR RAM, I am back on the air and the system seems stable. BUT ITS SOOOOO SLOW! I ran HDTach on my hard drives and compared to a benchmark established last 1/2005. ST380021A (Ultra ATA): Random access same @ 14.6 ms, but average read NOW 19.8 MB/s WAS 35.4 MB/s. WD800JB (Ultra DMA): Random access same @ 13.4 ms. but average read now 23.2 MB/s was 41 MB/s. Checked config at boot and they are both set to DMA Mode 2.

Possibly relevant? Added Antek Drive Coolers and Antek Round Cables. ST is 50% full but defragged - System is on this one. WD - just data store but 90% filled. Besides, HDTack only does read tests not write.

ANY ideas or suggestions?
