Hey all, Im wondering about getting this amp. Its a Blaupunkt TSW1200. Normally 99.99 at crutfield.. I can get 2 for $75.97 including shipping, brand new. Is this a decent amp, not for competitions or anything but like good bang for the buck... i know s*** about car audio...only that i have never heard of Blaupunkt before. Thanks all.

aight, i guess im not looking to dump lotsa money into alpines, i just wanna get some bang for my buck. As long as they are somewhat decent sounding ill be fine with them i think. I was more curious if 75 bucks for two 12 inch was a good deal.

i would lookup amps such as kicker, rockford, sony explod and such....they arent GREAT, but they are decent...they will prolly outlast the subs....

get a 2-channel, 400w amp rated to power two 200 watt chanels at 4ohms each.....you'll be set

TSW1200 is a subwoofer, not an amp.

Do you have the actual amp model number?

You will need to bridge the amplifier to get a mono signal to the subs.

You have to see if it has a built in low pass filter.

You don't hook the subs up in stereo 2 channel.

We need the following information about the subs:

single or dual voice coil?
What are their ohm ratings.
What is there max and RMS power rating.

No it isn't, and you know this. No one with a subwoofer system has it hooked up in stereo, it is meant to be a mono bass enhancer.

No, with those two 4 ohm subs wired properly in parallel, there will be an overall resistance of 2 ohm. This amplifier is not capable of handling a 2 ohm load without burning out.

You need an amplifier that is capable of handling a mono bridged load of 2 ohms.

Besides, that amp is power overkill in the first place.

Avoid Sony amps, there are not that good.

First of all, you don't have to get a dual subwoofer setup.

Get a good 12inch sub, a good sealed box for it and a good amp.

This will make things a lot simpler.

For subs, I recommend pioneer. They are cheap and they pound incredibly well.

For an amp, just avoid Sony altogether and try to shop at more than one store. Crutchfield is rather limited.

If you are looking for a cheap way to make good bass, buy a single 12 inch and a good 300-500 watt RMS amp and a good sealed box and enjoy.

if anyone knows about wanting to go cheap and getting good bass it's me! and DEFINANTLY not going to happen for under 250$ unless you can find some really good deals on ebay....Its funny that your bigging on a GTX 2200 because thats actually the same amp that i have in my car. On other posts of mine you'll see i have a SERIOUS overheating problem with it powering one sub bridged. Now bridges it has 500w RMS at 4 Ohms, which is fairly decent of an amp depending on the sub you have, since you wanna go cheap, then this setup would be perfect for a 75$ sub, it'll push them hard in 2 channel mode or you can bridge them and get more power to them both since the amp should handle it. Also with that amp i found is it doesnt give CLEAN energy so basically if you go with that amp, you'll blow a sub within 6 months if you dont have a good deck to go along with it!!!! it needs all the filters it can get! and you dont find many 2200 gtx's for under 200$ here anyways for a few more weeks.
