A couple of things you will need to set up win 98 on a broadband connection.

1) your win98 disk (cause everytime you touch network neighborhood, the damn thing wants it)

2) An extremely good hardware firewall.

3) A restore image of some sort.

sometimes you can get around using your windows 98 cd by directing it the
C:/program files/win98 folder, or where ever your "WIN98" folder is located. Saved me time when installing a linksys card in my laptop

I was trying to remember what I did, last time I did a Win98 broadband setup.........I was going from dialup to cable, and I believe all I did was install the network card (using the newest drivers, NOT Win98's old ones), shut down, and plug in the cable. When I started IE, it ran me through the process, just check LAN settings, and it should do it automatically. I didn't need the 98 CD at all.

I'll be doing it again here in a few weeks, though, when I hook this old jalopy up to DSL.
