This thing is being very interesting. It runs strong for about 5-10 minutes and then just shuts off. No warning or anything just dead. But starts right back up and the push of the button and will run strong for another 5-10 and then dies again. So I am going to get a new motherboard here shortly and try again.

well you would be right if you were thinking case and PSU. Because the combination of the two is a little over 700.
We won't go into the price list on this thing quite yet. That will come later.

Weaz, that machine looks awesome. A lot of good hardware going into this project. Good luck with the new mobo. Hopefully it fixes the problem.

That unit is going for around $450 or so.
If my problems arent fixed by a new motherboard then one of the 850 watt badboys maybe one of the next things on the order list. But they are LONG so I would have to remove one of the HDD cages to make room for it. And I was taking a closer look at the case and the Koolance housing and I may have to do some modding on that to fit a Black Ice Extreme dual 120mm radiator. So this project isn't over yet!

PC Power and Cooling claims it'll fit in a standard ATX case, and looking at yours, I think it'd fit without any modding. It looks longer than it is (seen one, want one, can't afford one....... *sigh*)

I'm thinking that might be your problem, too. Not sure what the added power requirements are for the PEE you have, but with everything else you've got in there, wouldn't surprise me if even a high-quality 500w wouldn't handle the load, depending on ambient temps.

Well the power requirements for that motherboard along with the PEE and 2-6800Us, 4x512 ram, 1 PATA IDE, 2 SATA IDE, I external HDD, 2 optical drives, 1PCI-e card, 2 PCI cards, 1 firewire device, 6 USB devices is 550 watts.

And the 510 Turbo Cool is supposed to power a dual CPU system fully loaded with upto 10 HDDs and the whole bit. But I know other people with this same motherboard are having the same troubles.

Oh on the dimensions of the 850 watter, it is 9.1" long. While the 510 unit is 5.5". The PC3-725 can accept a PSU upto 6.5" long. Yeah I did my homework before buying my parts. But the way the case is made it can be modded to take the larger power supply.

Yeah, it looks like it would fit just fine, with the second drive cage out.

I KNOW I couldn't fit one in my mid-tower, just ain't happening.

Project Darkside is going to take a major turn.
As many of you know I currently running a P4 3.4EE in an Antec P160 case with a custom watercooling set-up. And the current project is making use of a new Koolance PC3-725 case. Well at this point in time I am contemplating getting a larger PSU and also modding the case to accept a Black Ice radiator. After much thought I have decided to cross the two computers. What this mean is the 3.4EE and everything is going to reside in the Koolance case and the new dual core is going into the Antec case. This way the dual core and SLI can get better cooling with the better radiator in Antec case. And also have more room for the possible PSU upgrade. With the switch of cases will come a waterblock, pump and tubing size upgrade. That should enable the dualcore system to run a little cooler. As I dont think that the Koolance system was fully upto the task of handling the dual core under full load 24/7.

For a little preview of the new waterblock here is a peak:

1 year and 1 day later, the prject Darkside thread was revived by a random guest. Or was it not so random at all? Hmmmm.... Conspiracy maybe.

P.S.
It is a very nice rig.
