weaz the 4800+ comes out the 24th, i would have waited if i was you, the performence difference between intel and amd dual cores are big with AMD being on top, thats why they are priced so much higher.

The performance isnt that different. And no they arent shipping on the 24th. First it was supposed to be the 16th then july 6th and now we are being told maybe sometime in August, they arent sure when they will get the 4800s. Either way I will get my P EE by the 21st or 22nd at the latest.

And besides with the P EE then I will be able to run 4 instances of D2OL on this computer. Talk about production!

Ran into a slight problem last night. It all started when i got home and was browsing over the installation instructions for the LGA 775 retention bracket for the Swiftech cpu waterblock. "WARNING: use only a stepped base waterblock on Pentium 4 LGA 775." Well crap the block I got for the A64 has a flat base. So I go to my trusty frozencpu.com. OUT OF STOCK! ok check for the AMD XP (as they use the stepped block as well) OUT OF STOCK! So on to swiftnets.com and look at all the retailers that are close. After checking about 6 e-tailers I locate a block for the A XP (since I already have the bracket to mount it to the LGA 775.) Ordered and should be delivered on monday or tuesday.

The block seen in these pics is a spare as of right now, but the other one will look just the same. Wth no further ado here are some pics of video card and waterblock goodness.

These pics are pre-paint on the koolance blocks. There will be another update tonight to show the "after" pics.

one word of caution Nvidia SLI for Intel has been haveing problems lately hopefully you dont come across any.

yeah I have read that there have been some troubles. But we will have to wait and see. I think it is in part due to the newness of nVidia to the Intel chipset domain. And also the heat on the northbridge.

So if that water block is going spare, you could always send it my way.....

Could you not have just added a thin plate or shim under the block to create a step? or would that not alow the bracket to attach? Confused

Get that thing built already! I wana see some benchies (and hopefully a leap in tweaknews.net tweakers team daily output stats!)

Finally with the update on the video cards and waterblocks.
This shows one card finished and the other one waiting for its mating.

And now for a close up of the reading to be mated video card and thermal paste install.

SInce this update was overdue we have more pics for you.
The additional hardware to get close to finishing the install.
2 harddrives, 1 36gig and 1 74 gig raptor.
Sony floppy
New sound card
And of course the new DL DVD burner.

You can't have the complete inside of the case painted black and have the drives showing bare metal!

Well folks that is all for now. I hope that I get more parts in later today. So stay tuned for more updates.

weaze did you think about going dual GTX at all? they come out tomarrow. and Mwave has the eVGA GTX in stock already but its got a hefty price tag.

@ FnF becasue intel is useing the FSB to link the cores that will be a huge bottleneck in performence, you will see, time will tell how bad intels netburst is becomming, its getting worse and worse as they go on and on with it, but soon hopefully they will get rid of netburst and use what they did for the Penitum M, because the Pentium M is a good chip and its a good step towards a good direction.

And please dont turn this into a "the cpu is better" thing. This is just showing the build of this box.

I have thought about going with 2 of the 7800's and might do that by Christmas time.

I got the memory today but am going to wait till I get the cpu and motherboard before I take pics.
