Well guys the rumors are true Steve Jobs officaly anounced that Apple will start to use INtel chips in 2006 and be completely converted by 2007, this raises an interesting question is it possible to run a Apple OS on a normal computer intel ro AMD? i think so.

| This is kind of old news, they've been talking about this for a month or so. There is no word yet if apple would relase their OS for PC's. I highly doubt this would happen... it would leave no reason for apple computers to exist. |

I'd say it's about time. The rumors have been around for quite some time, there were even rumblings when the G4 was delayed due to proc problems. TI's tech just can't match Intel or AMD anymore. I kindof had the feeling this was coming.........the G5 is such a gimp, and when Apple introduced the iMac Mini, they recycled the G4 proc in a crippled form.
I expect that the Mac chips will be similar to PC chips, but not exactly the same, so you couldn't drop a Mac proc into a PC, or vice-versa, and regardless of THAT, you still wouldn't be able to run OS-X on a PC, the other 95% of the hardware will still be totally different.
I could be wrong on this, but I doubt Jobs would cut a deal with Intel if it meant cross-platform OS trading. Apple is a big enough company to warrant Intel developing a slightly different chip and chipset for them, and with Apple's selling power, a no brainer for Intel in terms of money. They can't lose. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
