What is the N/B Strap?

Under the Bios menu i see the "N/B STRAP CPU AS" setting and was woundering whats it for and how can I use it for my advantage.

N/B Strap by CPU allows you to "fool" your RAM, sortof.

P4 mobos support 400mhz (up to DDR266), 533mhz (up to DDR 333) and 800mhz (up to DDR 400). Basically, it just tells the RAM what chipset you have, and how fast to run. What you can use it for is this: If you're pushing your FSB hard, for a big OC, and you're getting RAM crashes (running DDR333 at higher than rated speeds), you can use the Strap By CPU to "trick" the RAM into running slower, using multipliers for, say, a 533mhz FSB, when your CPU is 800mhz FSB.

Or, if your CPU is not a good OC'er, and you want to try to push your RAM faster, then set Strap By CPU to a higher (or even lower, depending on the multiplier) FSB setting, and set the divider manually that way, OC'ing your RAM.

If it's set to AUTO, then the CPU and Northbridge determine what multipliers you can use, and only present you with those options. This way, you can "reveal" those hidden options, and set it yourself.
