I'd like to hook up my PC to my home theater sound system for an ALL DAY fathers day gaming experience.
I have a 6.1 system that is setup in my basement.
The A/V receiver has digital inputs that use either optical connection or RCA jacks. I don't think my mobo came with a digital (optical) output, but the amp has 192 kHz/24-bit D/A converters for all 6 main channels.

What do I need to hook up the sound output from the mobo to the receiver?

This should probably belong in DMW's A7N8X thread but after scouring the user's manual I found what looks like a solution. I think I can run an RCA cable (or optical) from the rear S/PDIF jack on the mobo directly into the back of my A/V receiver. I'll try this before the weekend and repost!

OK! One quick question...

If I want to hook up S-video from TV-OUT on vid-card, will I get a signal when I boot so that I can see what I'm doing. If I remember right on my old GF2 card I had to switch something in the "Display adapter" settings from the GUI.

Any Clues, I wanted to avoid dragging my monitor (or even worse TV) around the basement?

providing you have the geforce drivers installed....you need to access the "nView" menu with the advanced button, under the settings tab.
looks like this.

WOW!

This is incredible! PC sound my ARSE! This is home theater baby! 200 watts per channel (and non of these little weinie speakers either) with just one RCA cable to the back of my A/V reciever. My wife is gonna kick my @55 when she sees this. I got my cable running from the office to my PC on an end table next to the couch and keyboard, mouse,
& J-stick (for BF1942) all on the coffee (soon to be beer) table in front of me.

The only prob is that the S-video output to the TV sucks! Too grainy so yes, the monitor is on the table in front of me know but it will work (19"CRT).

Sorry to sound so jumpy but I've always wanted to try this I just need a bigger monitor to replace my TV, 60" maybe?

Hope everybody has a good weekend and Happy Father's day!

You'll know what I'll be doing, just hope I can hear after all is said and done.

just remember that as rule of thumb.....most all standard analog TVs are going to give similar results when compared to PC Monitors.....
TVs are just naturally less in quality, due to the fact that most people sit so far from them.
Now....start getting into digital TVs....and you might have a little something!
