Um......gmoney has it sortof right.
If you're not using SP1 XP cd, then you need to use the install utility from Seagate to format and partition it, so XP will recognize the whole drive. Otherwise, it might only show up as a 137gb drive. Do this BEFORE installing XP. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Another way of getting round not all of the drive being recognized, is to make 2 partitions, a 20Gig or so for the OS, then the rest for all of your stuff. After installing OS & SP's and drivers, reformat the larger partition thru the drive manager, then you are sorted. Thats what i did....didnt really take long. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

hehehe
That's what I said......newer SATA boards don't have a problem, if they're native SATA (in the southbridge), but older boards with SATA need drivers, and you need to run the drive's install utility, or you'll get all sorts of wierdness. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
