Ok, i set my new system and I need to format my 200gig seagate sata hdd ( single ) can any1 post how to do that please

through in ur windows cd and reinstall it .. it will ask if u want to reformat so...

wait wait ar you using that as your boot drive? or a data drive..... if windows is already installed you can format through the mmc

Um......gmoney has it sortof right.

If you're not using SP1 XP cd, then you need to use the install utility from Seagate to format and partition it, so XP will recognize the whole drive. Otherwise, it might only show up as a 137gb drive. Do this BEFORE installing XP.

Another way of getting round not all of the drive being recognized, is to make 2 partitions, a 20Gig or so for the OS, then the rest for all of your stuff. After installing OS & SP's and drivers, reformat the larger partition thru the drive manager, then you are sorted. Thats what i did....didnt really take long.

he said sata though... 99.9% of the time they are detected in full size.. just make sure u load da drivers wehn u install windows.. other wise it wont even detect the drive

For somereason it says i have used 66 gig when i have used 3

and this is a sata?


Wednesday Thursday Friday... its acting like a ata drive...


did u happen to hit f6 and the like so that u could install ur sata/raid drivers?

u mite as well just download the utility for the drive and format it that way... i.e. booting offa that disk and running the program

That's what I said......newer SATA boards don't have a problem, if they're native SATA (in the southbridge), but older boards with SATA need drivers, and you need to run the drive's install utility, or you'll get all sorts of wierdness.
