Hi,
I'm sorry if I'm on the wrong place, but I have to idea where to ask this, so I'm taking a very long shot here...
I was going through micro systems to buy a new one and I realized some of them have usb connectors. Specifically, I'm talking about Philips' MCM590/19. Apparently, it's supposed to let you play the files you have on your PC using your stereo. Ok. What I'm wondering is... can I reverse that? I mean, get whatever I'm playing on the stereo into my PC through that usb connection?
What I'm thinking about is either throwing radio stuff on my PC (somehow recording it here) OR maybe getting even more on the absurd side, connecting the stereo system to the TV (it can, apparently), and then "stealing" the audio from there as well into the computer.
Yeah, I'm looking for a way to not have an audio capture board and still do it. Pfff. Just wondered if I could make that usb connection more useful, otherwise the whole plugging into the PC to play the mp3 songs doesn't seem that attractive to me (I mean, I could just record the CDs, pff).
Thanks in advance! |

yeah...I think that is a one-way connection.
seems kinda lame to me, with the reletively short length of usb cables, you can't place it very far from the pc, and you still have to control playback from your PC. I'm not sure if it does, but it would be pretty cool if it would play music from a USB flash drive _________________ Yeah....... ok |

It's sortof a holdover from a few years ago......it's designed to "stream" your digital media collection to a home stereo, you can get wireless hubs that will take it farther than 10 feet or so. Some high end recievers (and some decent all-in-one boxes) have USB connectors just for that purpose.
But no, it's a one-way connection. It only goes out, not in, you'd need a capture device to actually record anything. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
