This thing owns, I dunno if it works on newer chipsets buts its worth trying. Its doesnt flash the BIOS or anything just a driver/background prog that runs and really does speed up your computer alot. Also boot time is shortened by a good 10 seconds at least. :)

Give it a go and its Intel so you can trust them :)

yea, it makes sure that all intel chipsets are taking full advantage of the IDE channel bandwidth.

diro,

Is your motherboard an Intel based Chipset motherboard? Which motherboard do you have?

Bijiy,

I would check Toshiba's site to see if your laptop is an intel based chipset and see if they are offering those drivers for it.

Yes, you want to install the intel application accelerator on your computer. It boosts your harddrive speed and overall system performance.

Also, there are some intel Chipset drivers you will have to also install.

Install both of them.

yes it is compatible with 875 boards but the

the southbridge should be a ICH5R chip..... intel application accelorator isn't compatible with ICH5 chips. both non-raid and raid versions.

But you still need to install the intel chipset drivers which are on the application disk.

Welcome, Arnoc. Here's your link- http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/

I don't know what this is about, but I just found this tidbit on intel's site-
Quote:
Note: The Intel Application Accelerator is not compatible with the Intel® 875P, 865G/P/PE, 852/855 GM/GME, 855MP, 848P, 815EM chipset, the Intel® 440 chipset family, or any earlier Intel chipsets.

I have an abit AI7 mb with a 2.8c. Intel application accelerator gives me the incompatibility message. Downloaded intel info utility and it says that I have an 82801EB/ER controller. The IAA readme says that only these chips are supported- 82801AA, 82801AB, 82801BA or 82801DB. And I did run the software installation utility, too. I can't find the drivers that you mention, Nathan, but a different page at intel shows a compatibility chart for IAA that contradicts their statement that I quoted above. I guess I'll just have to keep looking. The chipset driver on the abit mb cd is just the same software installition utility that I got off intel's site. I'm not using raid, but I'll give that one a try.

So this accelerator doesn't work on the 865PE chipset? Is there a program like this out there that would? Does it support SATA hard drives?
