trying to put SP2 on this machine like asap right.....and it gets through setup fine.....format the drive...and then when its copying files.....i cannot copy oembios.bin.......wtf? _________________

is it a slipstreamed disc? and how old is the drive.. just try to install with the original disk eh... irq issue sounds flakey.. wth?!! _________________ I finally got an award=OFFICIAL ROCKSTEADY AWARD and then one time... at tweaknews dene gave me a A+++++++....
and then...
i got a couple josh awards too

Hardware problem dude....run memtest...double check voltages on ram and cpu. You know the drill...what machine is this? Your intel box or somebody else's? _________________ .

i took one of the ram sticks out and it seems to be working.....ill let you guys know when i get home from work.....not my machine...my boss's _________________

Like I said double check the vdimm...may need to kick it up to 2.65 or 2.7 volts to run both sticks reliably. I've seen that happen.
I was thinking memory, sounds like you chased it into the sticks or controller.
Needless to say reformat drive completely, once you get it shook out.
BTW, you may want to clear BIOS also, and start out fresh. _________________ .

yeah but.. thats like flushing the toilet.. and hearing it gurgle.. so u think it flushes.. so u leave it alone.. and then u come back 6 hours later and ur knee high in poopy...

I agree........that ram stick is probably bad. Two of the hardest things you can do to a computer (CPU, optical, and RAM) is either stress testing, or installing XP. The fact that it installed nicely with that one stick removed tells me you've got bad memory going on, that regular usage won't show as quickly. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
