Somewhat dissapointing after all the waiting and hype
Nice review Nate.
Maybe you could test them against the AMD 64s? just to see how the 64bit platforms compare, but then again we don't want to fuel more AMD/Intel arguements.

Dissapointing......

Sorry, don't have a A64 to benchmark with.

Ah... Right, I forgot AMD don't think us worthy to review ther stuff...... Well INTEL RULES then

I wish they would wake up at AMD and send us review matterial, things are kinda one sided without the comparison... I mean c'mon TN has some of the best reviews I have read and I have read alot.

Ah well don't sweat it Nate we can compare results ourselves and make AMD look bad

Just because AMD is not in the review doesn't take anything away from the review at all.

Trust me, I understand you and what you were stating.

I am just stating for the record I had no A64 processors to compare it against hence why there is no A64 results in the benchmarks.

So were those puppys unlocked? I noticed they were marked "intel confidential"

The speed step is a nice touch in a desktop chip too I thought, I will be interested to see how these perform in real world use.

Judging by your review it seems there is not alot to be gained just yet. Those 3d05 scores show some potential, maybe when full support becomes available for the 64bit platform the extra $$ to upgrade will be justifiable.
1000 points diff between 32 an 64

Yes, they were unlocked. But remember, P4 ocing is through the FSB, not the multiplier anyways.

The 660 has the multiplier unlocked because that is how they speed step the processor down to idle speed of 2.8Ghz.

Drop the multiplier from 18x to 14x.

Ok I have a noob question, I have an LGA775 motherboard with a Pentium 4 540 (3.2Ghz)

Can I use the 660 processor in my motherboard since it is socket LGA775? (not that I want to )
