Pioneer also has the ability to change the sub volume and I really like them.
Blaupunkt is probably my second favorite brand and I have never really liked sony. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

Sony are good, Blaupunkt are fantastic for the price. I like JVC, got one of the cheapest units and it works great!
I tend to buy cheap stuff and do a little hardware hacking to make up a good system for my car.

Thats the only way to do it. That is also what turned me on to Blaupunkt. Inexpensive quality. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

| I like my panasonic cd/mp3 player, doesnt have the fancy sub controls but its still a nice unit, as long as the company has history of making good audio equipment then im all good like aiwa, pioneer, panasonic, jvc and what nots. |

Kenwood, Pioneer, Panasonic,....etc. All very good in their own special ways. But I have to admit, I just switched from a Panasonic to a Pioneer and I loving the way the Pioneer sounds. Bonus for the built-in, adjustable, HPF and fully customizable EQ. So at the moment I would say Pioneer all the way. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

I like alpine, good tops nice mids and pounding bass. They seem to have crisper trebble but that is probably just my imagination. Pioneer rock too though. I had a crown once and that was awsome but about 5x the price of the same range pioneer or etc. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

You just can't beat the quality, durability, sound quality, and allaround consistency of features in any Alpine unit. They are one of the only manufacturers of car audio that really doesn't have a "Low End" line. Each and every unit is of the highest quality and full feature. Pioneer makes some good units, but the have their "crappy" end, and they tend to be on the fragile side. I am running a Alpine CDA-9831 with an I-Pod interface, (2) Alpine SWR 12" subs, Infinity 6.5" Kappa Components up front, and Infinity 6.5 Kappa 2-way in back. Powered by a Rockford P4004 (4x100) and a Rockford P10001 (1KW) to the sub box, with a 1Farrad Digital Cap, to hold it all together. My Tahoe THUMPS!! _________________ Flipper699 |

Not exactly a very good survey...so I didn't vote. Although Pioneer, Alpine, and Sone are name brands, they are not the ONLY name brands and all other manufactures don't exactly fall into the pretense of no-name cheap ass crap. Personally, I use currently and fully enjoy my ECLIPSE deck. It has a short mouting depth, is smooth in design (not gawdy.....like EVERYTHING that sonly makes for car audio....UGH.. ::shudder::), and sounds terriffic. There are other very good brands such as Clarion, Kenwood, Panisonic, JVC, and a good many others. In the end though, it's to each his own. _________________ |¤| |

I agree with sally, i mean there are so many good ones out there, you just need to find something that sounds good and is within your budget!
-a little side note: some of these companys are owned by larger ones, that means that some of it is the same thing but with a differnt face plate on it! |

i have an alpine 3des something or other...it has a 3disc magazine that goes right in the head unit 3des6881 methinks.
and in my other car i have a pioneer.
totally different speakers, subs, amps so the sound comparison isn't equal.
the pioneer in my wifes car kicks ass on the stock setup, while my alpine is a real window breaker. _________________ We have enough youth, how about a fountain of smart. |
