Yep, I did it now! After playing with the DDR speed settings it seems my BIOS has gone on vacation. POST says "System memory test failed" and then it just sits. No HDD, no floppy, no CD... NO BOOT! I've heard of hot flashing to revive BIOS from hibernation but I dont have another chip laying around to do this. Is there anything else to try other than electro-shock therapy or the old hammer trick? : -( _________________ AMD XP 2500+ Barton

I tried the "reset with the jumper and removed the battery" trick, no luck, not even the POST voice says anything and no BIOS "beeps". Ever heard of anything else? _________________ AMD XP 2500+ Barton

Haven't messed with CPU, I was trying to get my PC2700 up to the 333 speed by using the % multiplier. I started out with the "Auto" setting and was running at 166 so I began using the manual settings at 100% and then incrementally going up until the "no boot" problem occurred at 150%. Maybe its a good thing these mobo's have a 3 year warranty!?! _________________ AMD XP 2500+ Barton

Looks like your ram is not compadable with the mobo. Have you tried putting in one stick of ram at a time or simply try other sticks of ram besides what you have? If that doesn't work, i think there is something wrong with the making of your mobo. And please do try to use the normal settings before you try tweaking for more MHz.

just out of pure curiosity....did you also unplug the machine while the battery was out and the jumper in the "clear" position? Try leaving it there for about 15min. and unplugged.
I am going to see if there is a soft copy of the manual out yet....a few of the things you said seemed unclear to me. |

OK!!! I am back in business! I tried the battery removal and jumper switch again and let it set for 30 min. or so and it WORKED!!! Why so stubborn... I don't care! Needless to say I am back to standard BIOS 1002.a and a happy camper I might add.
WOW! What a relief! :) now I feel... ! After a few cold beverages for patience sake and a deep breath I am ready to go! Thanks to all who had input on this one, especially DMW and Peer!!!! What a BIG help on this! _________________ AMD XP 2500+ Barton
