| You can copy a shortcut for your anti-spyware program into the Startup group in the Start menu. |

Most of them give you the option to have them start up at startup..........look under File > Options or File > Preferences, or some such, wherever the program option settings are.
If it doesn't give you one, then you can simply drag and drop the program shortcut or exe file into your Startup folder on your Start Menu........it'll start up then.
Personally, I don't see the need, I'd just scan before bed, or midday while you're doing something else. No need to slow your startup down to 10 minutes just to scan for spyware, if you do it regularly at other times. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

I usually don't attach or run any program at startup .. except too ..
one is Speed Fan to monitor my temps.. and other is Vypress Chat..
its pretty useless to start an antivirus.. in start up .. (one of the reason I hate Norton 2004 and 2005) ..
I wouldn't want any software to hog my memory space.. :)

Adding a shortcut to something like Ad-aware, to the startup folder will only open the application, you still have to manually click start
Fuss' is correct, Ad-aware has the option of running a scan on startup _________________ Yeah....... ok |

This is okay on a dial-up system....but in any "full time on" internet system w/active desktop enabled, you would want your AV on before the desktop (or any other program) could "call" on the internet.

Symantec's junk, use McAfee, not only is it better but Norton has more services running than McAfee which slows your comp. down. |

IMO...they are BOTH junK,
AVG is Free, updates automatically, doesen't leave a bunch of processes running, and you can still work while it's scanning _________________ Yeah....... ok |
