Check this link out if you own a Bose system, have thought about buying one, or just want to read. This isn't what you'd think.

Interesting read, but nothing surprising. I've never been particulary impressed with Bose, just in listening tests. Fact is, their technology, when it came out, was leagues above the similar speaker lines of the day, but that was 30+ years ago, and they've not changed to meet the quality components of today's speakers. And honestly, the Lifestyle systems are junk. We got them at Gateway (yes, I worked for them for awhile), when they introduced the plasma TV's a couple of years ago. Three Lifestyle 25's, all three of them broke within a week of use. DVD drives stopped working on all three, and on two of them, the rear amplifiers blew out. Not good for a $2000 system. And it wasn't just our shop, 8 out of the 10 stores in my area had problems.
The only issue I have with this guy's article is his take on subs. 6" subs can indeed be very powerful, and 18" subs are far from a novelty item. Most mid to large sized PA systems use 18" subs in a scoop, line array, or other bandpass type setups. I personally use EV 18" subs in all my cabinets, they're definitely a step above 15". Novelty item for home use, yes, but not in general. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

I have to concur with FnF here. In the day Bose was pretty good. But over the years others have kept up with the times where Bose has not. They were innovative, now they are outdated. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
