i know for my car when im replacing the headlight I have to go in through the back (under the hood) but for the blinker i have to take off the trim around the headlight on the outside of the car. Maybe its the same for the van.

Go from inside the engine bay.

It will be accessed from there.

Tell him to lift the hood and go at it from the back.

He will have to rotate the connector and remove the bulb plug.

you have to go from in the wheel well, there is a little round cover, remove it, and reach your hand inside, you'll have to feel around for the bulb. the drivers side is a big pain cause the harness for the headlights is there.

My Cavalier is like that. To replace the blinkers, you have to remove the plastic shroud that covers the front of the engine bay, remove the headlight, then reach way the heck down inside, where the dang bulb is mounted sideways. Pain in the butt.

Have you tried adding a little blinker fluid? That should clear the problem right up.

They don't have blinker fluid, only headlight fluid. And you have to go all the way to the store to get it, and don't forget some elbow grease.

Were you able to get it working dingus?
