They have mainly been created by handy case modders around the world.

Bringing them to a corporate selling scale would (parden the pun) be a smart move.

Think about it, you could practically think of your computer as a piece of furniture.

nothing like getting used ti placing a glass of water on top of the "piece of furniture" ...only to have that glass be spilled at some point.
or stacking materials on top or beside it constantly....

true "w00d" also has little tolerance for heat and slowly dissipates it.

With proper case ventilation, I wouldn't worry about case metal dissapation seeing that it is minute compared to the ability of good air flow.

I saw some mod ads for wooden cases, but not actually examined one. There is no indication that the wood is "solid", some type of laminate or a vaneer. It also seems to me that the "wood" cases are a bit pricey.

I ran a search on vaneers. You should be able to locate a vendor, for the vaneer you wish, the needed tools and instructions. Some of the vaneers could run from about $15 to $44 to cover the case.

I had contemplated placing the vaneer onto a cheap case; however, I would want to see a "real case" before I went that route to get a better idea of construction. Nathan's comment on heat, not only on wood, but also the glue, is a valid concern.

What about TERMITES?

I can see it now, "Hey did you get a new subwoofer for your PC?".
"No, That IS my PC".

Come to think of it wood does contain sound very well and would (there's Nathan's pun) make for a quiet machine.

Most subwoofers are indeed made out of wood or some kind of particle board.

Using allows for less vibration and resonance within the sub box.
