No Luck w/ KDS Organizer

Have had the machine for 6 months trying to get it to work with XP Home. Have flashed the BIOS, changed USB 2.0 boards 2 times (now have a D-Link DU-520), updated USB chipsets, moved my Logitech mouse to the PS2 port (also tried a Microsoft manual), rearranged my USB-powered hardware numerous times, uninstalled and reinstalled 2.2.4, 3.0, and 4.0, and still can't get it to work. Either locks up during scan or simply starts with a red X though the tower icon. Only have a Visioneer Strobe Pro scanner, a Compaq IPAQ charger/synchronize cable, and the KDS hooked up, now that I moved the mouse. Even with all of them removed still have the problem. Have used the compatibility command, etc. An Athlon 1800+ and 512M should be able to do this. Any further suggestions???
