Great job Nate.
And I thought my 4inch thick TV was thin. Less than an inch... DAMN. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

Many, many lcd panels are 8 bit, that is, capable of true 24 bit color or 16.7 million colors, the Samsung 193P being one such panel.
Other lcd panels are 6bit, capable of 18 bit color, or 262 thousand colors. The missing colors are emulated through Frame Rate Control, to apprroximate 24 bit color depth. Many (most?) of the fastest response time lcd panels are 18 bit, like the Samsung 710T.
CRTs basically have an unlimited color depth and are generally limited by the video adapter.
I suggest a trip over to X-bit Labs for an informative read on the state of LCD panels.

|
|
| Hi I just bought a 193p about a week ago and it runs great except for the fact that I lose a lot of detail on very dark images. The only way to correct this that I can think of is by increasing the brightness, but This will wash out the colors, which is not good. Nathan, did you have this sort of problem when you were reviewing the monitor? This is very frustrating right now because everything else is perfect. |

Nathan here is an example of what I am talking about.
In the picture of the tank, were you able to see much detail on the tank's left side (on the right side of the screen)? On my 193p, it is almost black with a little tan color showing through. |

Nomax, if that picture was taken with a digital camera, then it looks as though you have way to much contrast set.
If that picture is a screenshot, then obviously it is a video board and/or driver issue.

In the image from the game, that is actually a shadow. _________________ Owner & Administrator
