for good heatsinks look at Thermalright and Swiftech. Both make good quality heatsinks.

the sli will cost $100 extra, and 2 6600gts will be $400
so total will be $500

u can get a radeon x800xl for $300 which will outperform them, and u save $200

ot just get a $500 card with no sli

or a $400 6800gt with the sli mobo, then add another card later, i think 1 6800gt is as good as 2 6600gts and even better sometimes

i dont know will the boards work if you only have 1 card not for sli? i blieve that asus has a chip that can change between the two. but i like the theory on that it splits the 16x in to 8x ect ect. check out asus's board for exactly what i am tring to say.

There may be an ATI version of SLI...eventually. So if you were to invest in an ATI card now, you could use their 'SLI' later. (Disclaimer: I read this in a magazine, I have no concrete proof unless I can find where I real it again) *shrug*

But then again, it really matters what's faster now, eh? Up to you, but looks nice so far...oh and depending on if you plan to get this setup soon/how much you wanna spend, dual core processors should be rolling out this summer or fall...but that's a long ways away. Also, if you DO go with nvidia cards and SLI, I'd say wait for the nforce 4 to come out...

That's just my 2c

Yes, SLI boards will work with just one vid card, ATI or nVidia, doesn't matter. Right now, though, if you want to use SLI, you'll need nVidia cards.

The actual SLI circuit isn't used, until you plug in the second card, and the bridge chip between the two, which then splits the PCIe vid slots to two 8x slots, rather than one 16x and one 1x slot.

Well, a few NF4 boards are already out (I did some reasearch after my earlier post), so I'd say DEFINITELY go with one of those. They look to be some truly great boards, and they are very future-proof...SATA2, SLI, etc...

Anyway, good luck!

Yeah, but you could always just get a wireless card. I would not base your decision on that feature. (Not saying you are, but in case anyone else was thinking of it) Its always best o take a much closer looke than just neat little features that reduce used PCI slots.

From what I have gathered around the forums, there are mixed reviews with gigabyte. I believe more negative than positive. That's something you might want to consider.

my 2/1000 of $10

I saw a review in Maximum PC last month and the Antec truepower 550 psu got incredible ratings. It beat out the OCZ psu.

As far as vid card's, I agree with the others that say you ought to wait if you can. There's going to be some nice sli cards coming out prolly in the next couple of months.

They may, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I've seen no press releases or ANYTHING about it from ATI...so unless they spring it on us, ATI SLI probably won't be out anythime soon
