|
I recently replaced my Swiftech MCX4000 heatsink with a
Thermalright XP90. The MCX400 is similar to the MCX478V.
The XP 90 weighs 360g which is very light compared to some
of the newer heatsinks available now. Installation would have
taken 10 min. but I had to remove the motherboard to unbolt
the old heatsink and reinstall the stock intel mountig bracket.
I am using a 92mm Panaflo H1A fan which will spin at 2850 but I have
slowed it down to 2350 the same as a M1A panaflo. Here are the
temps old and new, CPU set at 3.4 for both. Room temp 22c
using Abit EQ temp readings.
old idle -- 28 sys cpu 43 pwm 31
old load-- 29 sys cpu 56 pwm 41
new idle--27sys cpu 39 pwm 26
new load-27sys cpu 47 pwm 32
New load temps are down 9 degrees, not bad
considering Abit boards report temps about 8-10 degrees too high
these are pretty good temps for such a light heatsink _________________ Antec 1080 AMG

Hm........thanks for posting that. I was just looking for a new heatsink, since my old Zalman cooler won't work with my new Northwood proc (don't ask me, I don't know) How much did it run you? _________________ Big enough to scare you |
