Why would you want to? Need a bedside reading light?
You can mod a PSU to turn on without being connected to the mobo, but you still need a mobo to connect the power switch and light to. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

When the power supply starts, your computer will (ideally) boot. What are you trying to do? Do you want your bling lights on without the computer running?
Maybe I don't understand the question? |

I can mod a PSU to have its own switch.. But like everyone else, I would like to know why you would want to? _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

He may, like me, want to have a dual PSU set up. One primary PSU to run all the normal hardware on (gfx cars, mobo, proc, drives, hdd drives, etc) and the other for case lights and fans.
That's how I have it set up. _________________

| You will need to bridge the pins 14 and 15 of the mainboard power connector with a piece of wire to get the PSU to turn on. |

14 and 15??? if I am correct it should be 13 and 14. one of them (I think 13) is a light green small gauge wire and the other is a black little bit larger gauge lead. I will confirm this when I get home and am able to look at my priming power supply. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

This pic should help:
Short the black and green pins (13 & 14).
HOWEVER, your PSU MAY STILL NOT WORK even if you short those pins. Some PSUs require you to have a load on the 5v (or 3.3v) rail in order to power on therefore attach a fan (old bust up CD-ROM as was in my situation) or something before shorting the pins. It may be a very good idea to wire-in a normal rocker switch too. Very handy. _________________

good find Z!! so as the diagram shows that 14 and 15 would work as well. That is if 15 is a populated pin. I know with my cheapy psu that I use to fill and prime the water system on my main system the 15 pin has nothing there. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Ah yes, according to that diagram 15 would work. Any ground (black) with the power on( green 14) should allow you to use a psu when not connected to mobo. You can always put a hdd or cdrom on to load the 5 and 12vrails. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |
