I just won these on ebay for 48 bucks including shipping. I have never had surround sound speakers before. I have heard lots of people talk about the recently on tn so i figured what the heck why not try them... I have a set of really old decent altec lansing speakers with 2 satelites and a subwoofer. What kind of improvement am i looking at in these, and should i reebay them and go for something else because its brand new in a box still and i could always get something else if there is something much better around the same price.

man wait til my parents find out i used their paypal without asking lmao... soo... are they going to be worth losing my life over....

640's or 680's??? cuz......well..probably 640's cuz 48 bux. these are decent but not as good as the 680's or 5500's, of course.
As far as worth losing you're life over.....nah, they aren't that good.

My first Multi-speaker set was some 640's, they are very nice for the price

no digital connection, and not anywhere near as loud as 680's but there is nothing wrong with them.

in ffact...they Rock really well in a small room

i remember a thread not to long ago about not playing the speakers as loud as they could go because it will mess them up... after likke 2 weeks of casual playing though they can be played on loudest because then they have been loosened up or something?

ok new question... how do i set these up... I cant get it to play with the 5.1 surround on my asus p4p800 deluxe. The board supports 5.1 surround sound speakers... i can get it to play out of the front two and the back two but the sides are fip flopped (right playing out of left and vice versa) any help would be appreciated.

check your connections at the sub...you probably have them reversed,
as for the center, it really only comes into play during 5.1 encoded media, but i think if you hit the "Matrix" button, you get simulated surround from ordinary stereo

I LOVE THEM. The headphone jack is really convenient. nate was right in his review about that damn little blue light i was getting a headache but a spot of elecrical tape fixed that and i cant even tell its on there by looking at it. I am very impressed with these speakers and i love 5.1!!!!!!!! Thanks everybody for the posts!
