FWIW....

I replaced my old favorite keyboard on my old PII (the keyboard was originally installed on an even older DOS based machine) because the numbers keys sometimes recorded a "double". Surprisingly, the display for programs run under the DOS prompt got sharper and clearer on my LCD.

Having a few minor and difficult to track down problems on my P4, which was also running an older favorite keyboard, I tried replacing the keyboard on it as well. And, Voila!. The minor, nagging problems cleared.

Perhaps the lesson is "You can run a newer keyboard on an older machine, but maybe it's not a good idea to run an older keyboard on a newer machine".

Some websites would not render correctly, uninteded disconnect from web accelerator... then slow reconnect, accepting unintended data (and creating a record for it) in my stock market program which was .01 second beyond the stated rangem, WinXP would intermttently boot to a blank screen.

If you replace your keyboard, it's a good idea to reinstall the keyboard driver...

If you don't know how:
a. Go into System/Hardware/Device Manager... click Keyboard, rt click on Keyboard description
b. Uninstall the Keyboard driver

Windows will reinstall the keyboard driver automatically when you reboot.
