As I use my computer under high stress, the processor temperature rises rapidly – yet, the CPU fan does not increase in RPM as the temps rise. I am running a P4 3E – idle temp is around 40c however, with 5 minutes of playing a game (or something requiring substantial processing power) I am looking at 60c.

However, the CPU fan remains at a constant 2600 RPM. It has the ability to run at 5000 RPM. Is there any way of correcting this problem?

when I get the com it was working correctly but now it is not working correctly

I tried cpustability to stress the cpu the cpu was 100% and temp was 65 and it still 2600 RPM only

Does it use a temp sensor/probe? Maybe that's come loose or gone bad. What fan/heatsink setup do you have? Need more info, then maybe we can better help you (hehe, I've been wanting to say that )

To the best of my knowledge, there should be something to enable fan speed change in the bios. Maybe Nathan, Sally, or Sandness know?

When you turn your pc on press delete to go to the bios nav thru it and go to power managment then there should be a setting about smart fan control it should be disabled when you turn it on it should show you your temps and your fan rpm's and that should fix your problems
Hope it works

This may be dumb (I'm good at pointing out dumb mistakes I've made.....) but make sure the CPU fan lead is plugged into the CPU fan header on the mobo.....I once plugged mine into an accessory fan header, that didn't have temp monitoring. The fan speed still showed (as Fan 3), but without the temp monitor, it wouldn't speed up or slow down, it just kinda ran at half-speed.

NOT really FnF...Stupid things like that happen all the time, and not only from ppl like us who build our own, but from "big" name "box" compies also.
