Hey TH, I was actually looking at that!! I don't know exactly what to get yet.... i just need something i wouldn't be embarrased to pick up some ladies in

About the z680's, anyone know how to go about connecting them via the digital connection? My Audigy 2 ZS has digital-out but it's a miniplug and the only digital-ins on the z680's controller are Coax and optical..... is there a converter or somehting i'd need to get to go from miniplug to Coax or optical??

Its a digital signal, that's de-coded at the speakers!

same as a DVD player hooked to a Home Theater

wait, i'm probly wrong, and it probly don't matter, but isn't the digital signal converted at the reciever-thingy? or do you mean an electrical signal? or am i wrong? or does it matter? or am i addicted to typeing uestion marks?

Good catch Hammy!

Have you listened to the z640's too? Do you think there is a noticable performance difference worth the difference in price?
z640s = $50 US
z680's = $230 US

Ok, i got the cbles for digital out - the sound is NICE! Very cool excepte DVD playback - I watched Matrix Revolutions and all the voices are really quite, while the background sounds (shooting, explosions, etc) sound excellent. my DVD player is Intervideo WinDVD 4.5 platinum. I tried watching it on Windows Media player - the voices were louder but the program settings were all screwy so not too hot for watching GVD's with speakers..... any idea on what I'm doing wrong?
