Interesting to say the least. But yeah, 52watts in =80watts cooling power?
A little strange, but compressers are a goofy thing. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

there are a few reviews in the Frozencpu page, I read them last week
I think it only dropped CPU temps by 2 or 3 Degrees.
if they could package it into something that would fit into a 120mm fan area, or was a little less visible, I might like to have one, it's a good idea, just too funky _________________ Yeah....... ok |

But it isn't a compressor JW...it's thermo-electric...like a peltier....notoriously ineffecient. _________________ .

I use peltiers, trust me, its a misprint, they ment 150W input 80W cooling.
Actually this sort of thing is NOT new, similar things have been in use for ages, also it's been used for years in industrial / dirty envionment computer systems, same with heatpipes.
Save some money and make your own, you can get a drinks cooler with a 52W TEC fairly cheap and it has everything you need. I don't find the chilled air make THAT much difference though, but anything cooler helps.

DOH! I realized that but i didn't REALIZE it
150W?!?!?! doesn't that hook up to the psu?!? _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

almost as bad as a 6800 U
For that kind of money you might as well watercool....especially if the difference is less than 5C _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

def looks interesting though, besides blocking most of the front 5 1/2" bays wonder what it would be like if further revisions were for either in the lower front or even for mounting on a fan cutout on the side _________________ Asus P5W DH (bios 1407)

Actually it won't be pulling that much power, I doubt that the TEC is over 50W, so that is only about 4.16A o current draw from the 12V rail. If it is an 80W than it will be about 6.6A which should be withing tolerance for a half decent PSU on a fairly standard computer setup.
I regulally need to source up to 19V at 11A for just ONE TEC. If I power the pelt at 12V it drops from 172W to just about 86W or so. The other pelts pull about 5A each at 12V, In all I pull at least 18A at 12v (216W). Killed a few PSUs with this setup.

So has anybody seen one of these...or a review? I guess you all figured out my skepticism (sp)
let's see..... more cooling out than power in!!!! I want to buy the patent on that
Haven't we been searching for this since the beginning of the industrial age

My guess is the sales department wrote the specs from tests performed, and didn't realize that....the fan on the "cold" side was aiding the cooling of whatever internal part they were measuring.
A typical 12v fan is ~14 watts Hmmm..SS..52watt TEC and 2X 14watt fans = 80watts....But we all know that you can add one (14watt) fan in the right place in the case and remove a certain amount of energy from a CPU for example.
I would have trouble claiming that as an effeciency since the ambient air did the cooling.
Wow...[by this type of calculation] a 14 watt fan on a CPU heatsink is a real miracle. _________________ .

I think you may have cracked it there 2O, thy are prolly adding the wattage of the fans into the wrong side, the output. You won't get 14W of cooling from a fan, technically you get 0Watts of cooling, as cooling is determinied by humidity (and how much heat can be carried away by the given level of moisture in the air at a certain temp).
In my opinion, it is a waste of a good pelt, trying to cool the air is ineffecient use of an already ineffecient cooling device. With a 50W pelt, you have to dump about 80W of HEAT, most of which is generated internally from the high current needed to power the PNP junctions. Dumping about 80W of heat to get a 2 - 3 deg c drop in air temp is just a waste of energy and time.
Also you have the 21deg C limit to deal with, a pelt can only cool to about 21 degrees cooler than the hot side of the pelt, if that is'nt very cool, neither is the "cold" air flowing into the case.
It's an interesting idea, but not practical using pelts. Best off using the pelts to directly cool a device and dump the heat into a water cooler / rad setup.

Yep...we come around full circle...Josh is of course correct...you are half way to a pretty nice water setup. _________________ .
