|
|
Since I'm going off to college next year and will be without a vehicle, I've decieded to ask for a MP3 player for Christmas so I can take my music collection with me everywhere. I'm not sure exactly what to get though. I've been looking at what Creative has and I like the new Zen Micro, but 5 gigs isn't a lot of space. So the Zen Touch would probably be my second choice. I would also like the player to act as a removable hard drive so I could just drag and drop my songs, or other files into it. I would appreciate any input you guys have. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

I'm not sure what others will say, but I think the IPod kicks ass!! Plus it comes in 15,20,30, and 40 gig sizes. I haven't tried any other mp3 players, but IPod is awsome and I'd highly recommend it. The 4th generation also has increased battery life. _________________ ABIT IC7 MAX 3, Corsair PC4000 Pro, P4 2.6C @3.23 GHz 1:1, 2.5-4-4-7, 2 WD Raptors in RAID 0 |

| boooo!!! i hate ipods, i went creative too and got the zen xtra when it first came out. 40 gigs of songs and other stuff wherever i go. I love it. Although, if ur going to leave it untouched for like a month and a half then take out the battery because it drained mine and i cant recharge it and the batteries are 50 bucks. Therefore im going to try to jump it with my car later.... so.. creative= good. :) |

I have the Zen touch myself, and also have a mate who has the newly released. Here are my opinions on the 2:
Touch: UBER mint battery life of 24 hours (i have tested this and it falls between 18 - 21 hours which is still 10 hours better than an iPod), i dont think you can find better
Large capacity and enough for me by a long shot ( i have 5GB of music, so i use the rest for Portable HDD)
Looks Nice
Very High Sound Quality 97db (purchase some good earbuds and it blows you away )
Touch pad is nice, yet a little too sensitive for my liking.
A littly more bulky than an Ipod, but its by no means HUGE (Original Zen being an example of HUGE)
Only supports WMA and MP3, fine for me, but maybe not for you (no doubt firmware will fix this at a later date)
To access files on a PC, drivers and Specail NOMAD explorer must be installed. Great Utilities, but annoying to get started at another computer other than yours.
No facilties to record onto player from external device (again something i dont need, but you may prefer)
Micro: As the name suggests, small and light....more so than the iPod.
Touch Pad greatly improved upon over Touch
Even Higher sound quality 98db
Battery life greater than that of an iPod
Only 5GB, no way near enough for me
I Personally dont like the explorer provided with the micro as much as the Touch, made it look nice whilst making it a little less user friendly
My main point on iPod V Creative is
Why do you buy an MP3 player....For Capacity, Sound Quality and Battery Life, and on this Capacity is equaled with both companies, whilst creative have superior Sound Quality and Battery Life to iPod. Besides, everyone has an iPod, they are boring and i could swear the some people buy iPod's, then throw the player away and just keep the earphones in all day because its "fashionable". _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

Thanks for the info Josh. I really hate Ipods, I've used one and don't see what's so great about them, plus I like the looks of any Creative player over it. About the drivers and software for the Touch, can I download them off the net? So I could just go to a friends pc, download the software, and transfer their music to the Touch. Again thanks for the info, I'll probably ask for the Touch since the Micro only holds 5gigs. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

You get all the software with the player on 1 CD. I am pretty sure you can get them of creative's MP3 website.

I was still looking around at some MP3 players and found the Neuros (www.neurosaudio.com) which looked like an amazing player. But it's cradle design adds to much bulk to it. The one thing that interested me most about it was it's ability to play wirelessly on any FM frequency to any radio. But the other day I was at RadioShack and saw a FM transmiter that was able to plug into any audio device and play the sound through a radio.
I was wondering if anyone here has used something like this and how well it worked? _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

I would have said iPod awhile ago........I have one, and I do like it alot, but with the new "security features" being added, and the lack of support for other formats that was originally promised, I can't reall recommend it anymore. I tried out the ZenTouch for giggles and grins, and the only complaint I have about it is the touch stripe. I have fat fingers, and it's not as easy to control as the iPod. Other than that, I liked it. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Aggreed on that.....but after about a month of usage you get to learn how it works....just takes a bit longer to get used to than an iPod...especially if you have used one before. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«
