Well, here we go...I'm posting this up to see if my new temps are acceptable. And now for the pictures.

Old case temps:

New case temps:

Room temp: it's about 70-72F if you can't read it well

Cable clutter: the second pic is from today, with 2 new wires from the front audio panel(notice the electrical tape wrapped home-made round cable )...I'll be cleaning it up in a month or so, after my vacation, when I get my new PSU and wire sleeving kit

Oh, and temps were acquired while running D2OL....it's been on for an hour or two, you can see it in the taskbar, heh

Unfortunatley i dont have my telescope on me so i will comment on the case.

Looks swish indeed and i know you will love it. You have the same situation as i did when i first got it....Where the F**K do i put all of these wires?!? I will post pics so you can see what i could do best without extending wires or sleeving...its not an easy job to tidy this case, its main and pretty much only downside IMO.

Hm, well averages are:
OLD
Case - 43
Diode - 62
Socket - 49

NEW

Case - 30
Diode - 45 (at the moment, diode average reads 51...more inline with the temp difference from the old measurements)
Socket - 37

and I meant to mention in my first post...I'm pretty sure that I have a bum diode socket. In both the old and new cases, it's MUCH higher than my case and socket measurements. Ah well...

Sorry about the tiny-ness

I can read them in 1024x768...kind of, lol. Should I post bigger ones next time? or maybe thumbnails, then you can go to the full sized pic...I just didn't want Nate to crack down on me for oversized pictures

oh, here are the thumbnails...

Temps are looking MUCH MUCH better. Thumbnails are a good idea, but if the pics are 640*480, they SHOULD be big enough to see and small enough not to disturb the flow of the thread. You can also take a screenshot of JUST the window by pressing alt+ print screen.

Indeed, and alt print screen loses a little less quality.

Are those CPU temps 62C and then 48C? Thats great!

Yes, but that's the diode reading...I'm pretty sure that it's no good. The socket temps are probably closer to the actual mark. Those dropped from 49-52 average under light load to 37-40 under heavy load.

I'm gonna check on my gf's rig today...she has the same mobo and cpu as me. I'll check to see if her diode and socket temps have as much of a difference as mine. I'm hoping that after that, I can be sure(in my mind at least) whether or not to believe my diode temp.

Well, I checked my gf's temps...idle her board is reading socket at 40 and diode at 36(averages) On the other hand, my board is currently reading socket at 43 and diode at 57...under load.

So, her temps are:
1. Much closer to each other.
2. Diode is lower than socket.

Oh, and she has only 1 case fan atm(I'm working on that)...which is why my temps are so much better than hers, with the 7 case fans

My opinion (for now) is that I just have a bum diode sensor.

Methinks it MAY be a bit of a quality issue. Sometimes the best parts available aren't used to make a mobo . . . it could very well be a bum sensor too. There is always a given amount of error in these things. most of the time, its between 5-10%.
