Get the Remote that Nathan Mentioned

Plug a power bar into it then anything plugged into that power bar you can turn of with a handy remote.

I have 2 of them, they work Great!

Flatlander,
Well, it has arrived and after listening to it for the past 3 hours, I am stone deaf! When you said it was LOUD, I didn't think it would be SO LooooOUD Very Happy

Anyways, thanks again for all your advice. For what its worth to others reading this post I just picked them up for $230 + $30 two day shipping from www.bhphotovideo.com. I found them on pricegrabber.com and was impresed with price, speed of shipping an overall cost...

C ya!

Has anyone any suggestions on how to best hook up an MP3 or iPod to the Z5500?

Is this wire suitable for this purpose or does anyone have better suggestion. I couldn't find anything on RadioShack which is usually cheap...

http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=2002&sku=40600

The instructions mention connecting it up to a stero jack on the console. (Step 2C in Installation Guide).

Also, is the sound, when connected to the Auxillary Input jack on the console as good as connecting an iPod to the back of an audio receiver?

Thanks!

Just connect the gree analog plug to the headphone port on the speaker system.

Set the console to stereoX2 and enjoy.

Thanks Nathan,
Worked like a charm...didn't even know this was an added benefit of owning the Z5500. Amazing system all round. And yes, the StereoX2 is the best sound option for the iPod.

Hi.

I have heard somewhere that there is an auto sense or auto switch function between input signals. I’m using both digital coaxial, digital optical and analogue input in my Z-680 system and I really don’t like pushing the input button to switch source, therefore I’m planning to get a Z-5500 system (I have heard somewhere that the US version of Z-680 should have auto switch but I live in Europe so that doesn’t help me). There are some other reasons as well why I wont a new system.

I would like to know how this auto switch on the input source works. Does it only search input when powered on or does it search for input signal when the current source gets quiet? Or have I heard wrong, does it have an auto switch source?

Thanks!

I don't think it has auto-switch.

Besides, hitting the input button is a hard thing?

Yea, there is NO Auto Switch

Don't understand why having to hit a input button is bringing you down?
- not like you have to re-plug cables each time or anything like that???????????????

I still need to find someone that is able to help me with my settings (PowerDVD / Montego DDL). DVD is not working correctly.

Hi

Is this normal for a logitech z5500 subwoofer?

i turn volume of subwoofer to maximum, then i turn the main volume ot about 15, and usually i hear this ratling from the subwoofer, i know its deffenitly from the wubwoofer as i have listen carefully, i have shaked the sub to see if anyhting rattles and nothing does, but at high volume as i said i hear a ratling noise, kind of like ratling wood vibrating on a table, or somthing flapping, is my subwoofer faulty, everyhting is perfect exept for this :)

NEVER has the subwoofer on max.

1/2 is all you will need.

You are overloading it and possibly ruining it.

No subwoofer is meant to be put on full volume and full system volume as well.

ah, well on the volume, it goes up to 20 square things, is that classed as full volue? becouse if you keep turning you get the boost thing which goes up to boost 11, so thats 31, so is 31 actually the max volume?

ah good, well half subwoofer is ok, just the reason i asked about that wierd noise coming from subwoofer at max is becouse i thought maybe it might of been defective, but now i know its all ok, this system really rocks!!!!!, before this i had a 50watt rms system with 25watt sub, it distorted at really high volume, i am amazed now i got a system that never distorts :), i might consider buying another one when i have upgraded my computer.

it looks scary when your volume is on high and you loook at the subwoofer's speaker, the speed it moves, you'd think it wouldent last long, looks so fragile.

It won't last long if you pound on it hard and overload it constantly.

The higher the volume level you are going to be listening, the less you should have the subwoofer turned up.

I highly doubt if you turn the subwoofer down that you can't hear the bass.

i suppose so, i just like loads n loads n load of bass, i would of thought this system would of been able to go louder than a 330watt sony home entertainment system, its got an 80watt rms sub and what looks like a 9" speaker on the side of it, and that can go all way up to max on Sky music tv, and bass is out of this world, i dont know weather its were its placed, as its downstairs on carpet what is on a concrete floor :\

I find putting the sub on the ground facing a corner about 8 - 12 inches from the wall gives the best bass and you don't have to have it cranked all the way up either. Nathan knows what he is talking about. If he says it will not last long blasting at full power then I suggest you listen. If you want deafening music get some good head phones, you can have them as loud as you like and you won't bother the neighbors

well, it all depends on your audio settings too. I run a line out of my computer to a 24 band equilizer, then to my stereo that is 350 watts, 100 - each speaker, and 100 to the sub... or something like that... but I have to turn the bass down to below 0 to get it to sound good at higher levels... Just adjusts the sound on your computer for your needs...

Meh, i dont like headphones, i like people to hear my music outside when there walking past Razz + i like bass making the house shake Razz

Ah, i wonder if maybe its my Realtek ac97 intergrated audio making it not as good as it good of been, i remember my old mobo, it even had somthing called spdif in/out or somthing, and it was a top of range mobo for skt 478 cpu's, but i was forced to upgrade as mobo was faulty, but the intergrated C-Media audio on that seemed to be decent, i could set audio properties so that on my old system the bass was like 5 times louder but distorted like hell, and i had this thing that bosted all the speakers so they was louder, shame i dont have anyhting like that on this mobo, time to maybe get a sound card :\

Regarding this clicking i hear that i posted about, i heard it when the bass wasent all that loud, ok, it was pretty much shaking the room, but for what this thing should be able to do do, i shouldent be hearing this noise, i was at about 14 out of 20, listning to the song Dont cha - PussyCat dolls, and on that large bass that goes from high to low, sounds kind of like a drum, i hear that wood vibrating on desk noise again, the sub was at only 4, it sound like its the actual sub making the noise, i dont know if its just the sound card as i have never had speakers of this quality on my pc before.
