I have a Koolance liquid cooled case with a grill at the front for airflow, two fans at the back, and a radiator on top with two fans blowing in and one fan blowing out. One of the intake fans for the radiator is mostly for cooling one specific part and doesn't cool the rest of the case much.
So here's the question- which way would I get better cooling? The fans on the back for intake or exhaust? I've got them on intake right now I think, would exhaust maybe be better?
Please let me know what you think! Pics of my current setup are at www.thebeckerfamily.org/jacob.htm |

Its best to pull air in from the bottom and front and exhaust it to the top and back.
Do you have any fans in the bottom or front? How are your case temps right now? Trial and error might help you here. Results can vary from case to case. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

no fans in the bottom front, only top back. But there is a grill in the front, so i guess exhaust in back is what I want.
Thanks! |

How about a fan up front...in front of the hard drive for some added goodness. _________________ .

Alright! I've decided- my first real case mod is going to be a fan at teh bottom front and a fan (if it will fit) in front of the hard drive.
So a couple questions about installing fans- my case came with two sort of slots for fans- you just snap the fan in, no screwing neccessary. They are pretty convenient, should I look for one of those to attach in front? If that's a bad idea, what size bolts do I need? I'm probably going to make a trip to the local hardware store this friday after thanksgiving, what would I need? |

| when you buy a computer fan, it comes with screws that bite into the plasic of the fan. You shouldnt need any bolts, and installing the plastic things in the case might be more trouble than its worth. |

with the Antec style case he wouldnt be able to use the fan screws to mount the fans he would need to get the plastic fan retention devices. I looked around on Koolances site for them but never did find if they offered them. But a quick trip over to Antec I found the things that you would need to mount the fans up front.

you would want the SXCFB to mount a fan in the lower fan location. And then to mount an intake fan infront of the HDD you would need SXHDCFB.
I hope that helps out. OH and yeah you want the rear fans to be exhaust, as that is pulling the hot air out of the case that is being pushed into it by the intake fans blowing over the radiator. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

the fan holders just snap into place as those style of cases dont have the normal holes for fan screws. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
