OK... I was totally headed for the Corsair XMS3500.
what about the Geil? GeIL GL5123500 512MB DDR433 PC3500
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=85012
it seems to do "OK"
or even the OCZ offered the by the very proud sponsers we have?
I currently have some OCZ "enhanced PC133" in one of my machines...it seems to do well enuf.
Or the highly, tested Samsung chips out there?
WHAT DO YOU HAVE?!? |

Corsair hands down. Seems geil has had some problems in the last while with compatibility.
Go corsair and you will NEVER go wrong. _________________ Owner & Administrator

I just bough the 1Gb kit Dual Channel 6-3-3 memory and on my A7NX8 deluxe mobo after the post screen I was seen a "Twin DDR feature enable" message because the timing settings were at Optimal in both CPU and Memory frequency, the SPD was set on memory timings and it was reading a 6-3-3 and a CAS Latency of 2T. Now I tweaked the settings and change the system settings on that page to Aggressive on both timings and then it change to 5-3-3 still CAS 2T; however the resulting frequency dropped to 133MHz. Anyone seen this? The memory works just fine, even overclocked-except don't try to lower the timings to 5-2-2, systems fails memory test then I had to reset CMOS and start again. Does this mean that overclocking these modules disables the use of the dual channel feature of the chipset? I can't tell although it seems memory is running faster. I don't see a significant difference when using this so called "Dual Channel" modules... Clues, anyone? |

Just spoke to a tech at Geilusa and he says that for the Dual Channel to work one module must be installed on the inside bank and another on the outside bank, 1-3 or 2-3. Apparently some people have been able to run this memory as high as 410Mhz and still stable. I will see tonite. |

Well it didn't work, but here is why.... Duh!!! my CPU is a retail so the L1 is locked. found this link which shows nicely how to do it safely. Also tells to use a conductive pen as oppose to lead from a pencil. I was able to go down to
6-2-2, at 200MHz, but that was about it. tried 5-2-2 and it locked up. But as soon as I unlock the CPU it should be just fine.
this are pretty good instructions.
