I have always wondered this, but no one could answer it. Why does PC2700 DDR333 run faster then the PC3200 DDR400 on all motherboards? I have ask this question everywhere, and know one could give me a correct answer.

Coming from first hand experience, it seems to be that the chipsets made to use the faster ram really dont take full advantage of the bandwidth.

Don't really know why seeing that it a technical question that has been unanswered across the net. Seems that the chipsets are in part a little faulty.

Go Figure.

You're asking a pretty generic question. In this instance your wrong, this doesn't happen on "all" motherboards. It depends on what type and brand of memory you're using and other factors.

What brand of memory are you referring to? Keep in mind that when you compare PC2700 with PC3200 you need to use the same brand, different brands have different levels of quality and they don't all act the same either.

Nathan's right also, it depends on the chipset and whether AMD or Intel.

So the only point in getting PC3200 DDR400 ram is to set it at DDR333, and later on when the motherboards can take advantage of the DDR400 ram, set it to that. right?
